The Genie Company, a manufacturer of access-control products for residential and commercial applications, added two new models to its product lineup. The ReliaG 850 and ReliaG 650 models are ceiling-mounted garage door openers with either steel-reinforced belt or chain-drive options. Each incorporates a 24-volt DC motor for quieter operation and comes with a c-channel rail in 7- or 8-foot lengths, enclosing the belt or chain to provide better aesthetic appeal, the company said.

Model 850 has a 1/2 horsepower comparable power-plus motor that operates most residential sectional doors up to 500 pounds. The motor incorporates soft start-soft stop technology to help provide a smooth start and finish to the garage door’s operation, the company said. Model 650 is rated for residential sectional doors up to 350 pounds.

Lighting for the openers is placed toward the inside of the garage and is compatible with most incandescent, compact fluorescent (CFL) or LED light bulbs. Genie’s Intellicode access-security system uses rolling codes to help prevent pirating the radio signal. The models also have a preprogrammed remote that’s immediately ready for use.

The ReliaG opener heads are interchangeable with the belt or chain-drive rail to allow garage door installers to change belt drives quickly. The models are compatible with all models of HomeLink and Car2U systems.

Model 850 comes with a 10-year limited warranty, and Model 650 comes with a five-year limited warranty on its motor. Each model has a 15-year limited warranty on the belt-drive rail and a five-year warranty on the chain-drive rail.

“We are very proud with the amount of energy and effort that went into making the ReliaG 850 and 650 garage door opener models a valuable and important part of our lineup,” said company president Mike Kridel. “These openers are geared to the opening price-point segment, but the detailed design and manufacturing process treated them like they were our highest-end models. While homeowner features were important, we also made sure professional installers would find them as reliable and easy to install as anything else on the market.”
